Education Classes

Listed below are some of the classes that we offer through our partnership with Lewis and Clark Community College. If interested, please contact us for more information, or call L&CCC at (618) 468-5730 to register.  Also available on request with minimum attendance.

Weatherization Essentials for Contractors -  This 5-day, 30-hour course is meant to prepare you for a new career in weatherization, either as an independent contractor, or to join a state or federal Weatherization Assistance Program for lower-income homeowners. (See the Weatherization Job Training section for more information.)  Offered in 2012 on March 26-30 from 9AM-4PM at LCCC-Bethalto 200.  Minimum attendance: 6, 12 max.

Weatherization Essentials: DIY -  For anyone planning on doing their own energy-efficiency upgrades, this 8-hour class is a must!  An abreviated version of the previous course, it still covers all the important points of performing energy retrofits. Offered on March 20 & 27 from 6-8PM at LCCC-Bethalto 200.  Minimum attendance: 6, 20 max.

Introduction to Green Building -  Planning on building your dream home?  Be sure it's built right by learning about as many Green/High Performance features, products and techniques as we can squeeze into this 4-hour, 2-session class.  Be prepared for possible follow-up field trips to observe some examples!  Next class TBA at LCCC-Nelson in Edwardsville.  Minimum attendance: 6, 20 max.

'Who Killed the Electric Car?' -  (Coming soon) An interesting and fun true-life whodunnit about the first mass-produced all-electric vehicle and its premature demise in 2001.  Presented in two 2-hour sessions, students will play the roles of judge, prosecutor, defense and jury in a mock trial.  Minimum attendance: 6, 25 max.

Understanding Climate Change -  (Coming soon) What is Climate Change, Global Warming, Greenhouse Gases, Weatherization or "Green" Building; and how does it affect you?  Review the evidence and learn why it's important to do something about it - and how!  Presented in one 4-hour session.
